Paleoproterozoic gold events in the southern West African Craton: review and synopsis

چکیده

The southern part of the West African Craton includes Baoulé-Mossi Domain, world’s premier Paleoproterozoic gold province (~10,000 metric ton endowment). Structural, metamorphic, and geochronological data suggest mineralisation occurred during three episodes that span much Eoeburnean Eburnean orogenic cycles. rare skarn-hosted deposits formed between ca. 2200 2135 Ma repeated volcanism, plutonism, shortening, which thickened crust. Early placer 2110 2095 inversion, metamorphism, subsequent oblique shortening intra-orogenic basins filled after Ma. This episode terminated when Domain docked with Archean Kénéma-Man at Late less common intrusion-related 2060 strike-slip to oblique-slip tectonics, post-collisional high-K plutonism crustal reworking across western Domain. include 10 % endowment whereas 50–70% 20–40%, respectively. Here, we highlight favourable confluence accretion-collision involving juvenile crust formation as well protracted magmatic, deformation histories resulted in diachronous events spread over least 100 myr throughout

Paleoproterozoic high-pressure metamorphism in the northern North China Craton and implications for the Nuna supercontinent

The connection between the North China Craton (NCC) and contiguous cratons is important for the configuration of the Nuna supercontinent. Here we document a new Paleoproterozoic high-pressure (HP) complex dominated by garnet websterite on the northern margin of the NCC. The peak metamorphism of the garnet websterite was after ∼1.90 Ga when it was subducted to eclogite facies at ∼2.4 GPa, then e...

Phylogenetic Relationships of Southern African West Nile Virus Isolates

Phylogenetic relationships were examined for 29 southern African West Nile virus (formal name West Nile virus [WNV]) isolates from various sources in four countries from 1958 to 2001. In addition, sequence data were retrieved from GenBank for another 23 WNV isolates and Kunjin and Japanese encephalitis viruses. All isolates belonged to two lineages. Lineage 1 isolates were from central and Nort...

Metamorphism of basement rocks in the Central Zone of the North China Craton: implications for Paleoproterozoic tectonic evolution

Lithological, structural, metamorphic and geochronological data for the North China Craton enable its division into the Western and Eastern Blocks of Archean to Paleoproterozoic age separated by a north–south trending Paleoproterozoic orogenic belt: the Central Zone. The Central Zone is divisible into a series of lowto medium-grade granite–greenstone belts and high-grade metamorphic terrains co...

Major Determinants of Foreign Direct Investment in the West African Economic and Monetary Region

The main concern of this paper is to answer the question of the determinants of FDI inflows to West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU). The literature on FDI recognizes not only the existence of gaps between domestic savings and investment in most developing countries but also that FDI constitutes a cure capable to bring the latest technology and management know-how into these countrie...
